Many hands make light work, but what if you are all working on the same document! In this session we demonstrate the value of Source Control or Version Control software. If you create any content or documentation within a team or write code, this course is for you.

In this 1-day “hands-on” session, we show you how to:

– write in “Markdown”, a lightweight markup language to allow you to format content.

– demonstrate GIT client software and how to use it.

– explain how the “GIT workflow” can manage contributions to the same document from multiple authors.

– roll back to earlier versions and manage conflicts when merging edits from multiple authors

– introduce how source control can be used to review authored content or code before it is made available for all to use.

This session can be run at selected locations or online.

For this hands-on session, we encourage you to bring your own laptop and have internet access. You will need the permission to install Visual Studio Code and GIT free software on your machine. You will also need to sign up for a free GitHub account.
