This course follows a blended learning approach, combining E-learning with in-person sessions to minimize the time you need to take off work. Attendance is required every two weeks, and a timetable will be provided at the start. The theory component covers 12 mandatory knowledge units, each accompanied by a knowledge test. Practical sessions are held at the center, and candidates will receive a timetable to guide them.
The training workbook includes hands-on tasks, starting with basic skills like soldering and various pipe jointing methods, progressing to more advanced tasks such as installing a cloakroom, bathroom, soil stack, guttering, and airing cupboards. This is a comprehensive qualification.
In addition to the above, this route also includes workplace evidencing. You will need to complete tasks such as decommissioning and installing a new bathroom suite, as well as decommissioning and installing a heating system and radiator. Two decommissioning and installation tasks are required—one for a bathroom and one for a radiator. One task must be observed by one of our assessors during a workplace visit, while the other can be carried out under the supervision of a qualified plumber or someone with at least five years of industry experience.
Attendance at the center is required every two weeks (day release). However, towards the end of the program, block sessions may be scheduled for larger practical tasks, such as installing a bathroom or soil stack. You will receive plenty of notice for these sessions.
