Tagg Floral, an emerging high-end floral design business, was founded with a clear creative vision but faced uncertainty during its early stages. Like many new entrepreneurs, the owner struggled to navigate the overwhelming amount of external advice and conflicting expectations that made it difficult to define the business direction and connect with the right clients.
Before applying for the Skills Hub grant, the business was at a critical crossroads. The founder describes feeling “lost and overwhelmed by all the possibilities for what my business could become.” Despite having a strong sense of the brand’s aesthetic, too many external influences created confusion and self-doubt. This made it difficult to stay aligned with the original vision or identify how to reach the intended high-end market.
The Skills Hub provided a grant which was used to fund training with Gail Booth of The Business Booth, a specialist whose expertise directly addressed the internal and strategic challenges. This training provided a turning point for the business. According to Claire Tagg, the founder, “Training with Gail was incredible… she immediately understood the internal struggle I was facing and quickly got to the heart of the problem.”
The effect of the funded training has been profound. Claire reflects, “I do feel like this training was life changing. Whenever I think I’m losing direction, I will always refer back to it.”
“Yes, I definitely would recommend the grant. Gail’s knowledge was outstanding. I learnt in a few hours information that would have taken me years to figure out.”
“Thank you for providing this funding for me. When starting a business everything feels like a battle. It has been nice to have people supporting me. I didn’t realise how much I needed it and I do really appreciate it.”
